How to set the leading zero print style on the Seiko TP-5

This setting only changes how leading zeros are presented on the hours and dates when printed.

If enabled, the Seiko TP-5 can print the leading zeros on hours and dates and can be selected from one of the following two styles.

Option Description Example
1 ZERO Disabled JAN 1 PM3:00
2 ZERO Enabled JAN 01 PM03:00


If you need to set or alter the leading zero style on your Seiko TP-5 time clock, follow the procedure below.


  1. If you haven't already done so, with power applied to the Seiko TP-5, unlock and remove the top cover.

  2. Seiko TP-5 Time Clock (unlock top cover)

  3. Press the SELECT button as required to position the "" mark under the LEADING ZERO option.

  4. Seiko TP-5 Time Clock (change leading zero style - step 2)

    If the display shows "9999" when entering program mode, you are required to enter the four digit password to proceed.

  5. The leading zero style option value will be flashing.  If necessary, press the CHANGE button to alter the option value.

    Press the SET button to complete the procedure.


  6. Seiko TP-5 Time Clock (change leading zero style - complete)

  7. If you don't need to alter any further settings, press SET one more time to ensure you have exited program mode.

  8. If you don't press the SET button to complete programming, the TP-5 will remain in program mode and will not accept time cards or documents.


  9. Replace and lock the top cover.
